M&Ms, Marriage, and Missions

We met through a high school club called Jesus First, a student led after school Bible study.  It all started with a phone call to help recruit volunteers for a campus outreach during Easter.  Amanda had called Andy to verify he could help with some prep work.  He agreed to help immediately, but an hour later they found themselves still on the phone discussing M&Ms, slingshots, and Jars of Clay.  It was the beginning of a forever friendship.
Andy went on to college at Vincennes University and graduated with a degree in broadcasting.  Amanda attended Anderson University and graduated from the School of Nursing.
Our friendship remained just that, a friendship.  That is until another phone conversation took place and reminded us of how much we enjoyed each other's company.  On June 1st 2004 Andy asked Amanda to marry him, and we were married August 6th, 2005.
We were living in Evansville, Indiana.  Andy was working at 14WFIE, a local TV station.  Amanda was working at Deaconess Hospital with heart and kidney patients.  We were very involved with our local church, and very passionate about mission work.  We had always loved missions.
We had talked a couple of months before the birth of our first child about foreign mission work and contacted a mission board.  Obviously it wasn't God's timing as nothing came to fruition.  We continued to pray.
Andy began working for a communications company with fiber optics and Amanda had left the hospital for a role in public health nursing.
Once again we discussed foreign mission work.  Andy applied to ABWE and we excitedly waited to see what God was going to do.  Just a few days later we were thrilled to learn that ABWE had some ongoing work in Togo, West Africa and needed church planting facilitators to aid in discipleship, broadcasting, and in their hospital.  As Andy read this information aloud from an email there were gasps, wide-opened mouths, and tears flowing from both of us as we realized how perfectly orchestrated this was.  No doubt, a God thing.
God has blessed us with 3 children -Nora, Silas and Lena.  We are excited to have them along for all our adventures and to teach them about our Savior.
We love family and church camp as both were instrumental in each of our salvations, and we have a heart for mission work.  Please pray for us as we continue to walk by faith and follow God's call to Togo.
